The Highs and Lows of my Assistive Technology Experience

I have been using the  Eco II Communication Aid for the past 3 years. It is good having my Liberator Eco II because I can talk to my friends in work. In order to talk with my friends, I write out my sentences on a screen using a reflective dot placed on my forehead which acts like a computer mouse. I simply rotate my head and an arrow icon on the screen follows my movements. As a result I can select the appropriate letter or predictive word which I then can select to form sentences. When my sentence is complete, a voice activated sound within the computer reads off my constructed sentence.

The most invaluable piece of assistive technology for me would have to be my mobile telephone.

VoiceOver enabled, the iPhone has opened up a world of possibilities at my fingertips, all in one compact device. Settings may be customised for blind, low vision and hearing impaired. Physical and motor accessibility and guided learning options are also inbuilt features.........
