Grainne Seoige and Rachael Doak (8) Celebrate 20 Years of Give Up Clothes For Good Supporting Enable Ireland
TV presenter Grainne Seoige and Enable Ireland Wicklow service user, Rachael Doak (aged 8) launched the 20th anniversary of TK Maxx Give Up Clothes For Good campaign, in aid of Enable Ireland. Since 1997, the campaign has raised €2.2million and close to 120,000 bags of donated items for our services.  An interview with Grainne promoting the campaign will air on TV3's Expose on Thursday 16th March. Visit our Facebook page to like and share our animated video celebrating 20 years of partnership.We're encouraging everyone to donate their unwanted items to their local TK Maxx store and then nominate a friend to do the same. All donated items are sold through our charity shops to raise funds for services.  #GUCFG20

Third Level Placement Policy in Action
Fionnuala O'Donovan interviews Daniel James
 

Enable Ireland is very proud of it’s commitment and contribution to the growth and development of the next generation of disability sector employees through it’s Third Level Placement Policy and also the Graduate Volunteer Programme.

Both allow students or graduates first hand and practical experience of what it is like to work in Enable Ireland, provide opportunities for further learning and assist the student or graduate to make informed career decisions.

Daniel James is a beneficiary of the Third Level Placement Policy. A student of Psychology and Social Studies in The College of Commerce, Cork, Daniel James is interviewed here by Fionnuala O’Donovan, CEO, Enable Ireland about his Third Level Placement in the Lavanagh Centre, Enable Ireland Cork in January 2017.

 


AT Loan Library - New Products
Assistive Technology
 

Enable Ireland’s National AT Training Service has introduced a number of new assistive technology products to AT loan library http://www.atlibrary.com/EI/Home.do

All Enable Ireland staff can borrow a wide range of assistive technology devices to trial with service users or for their professional training purposes.

This service is free of charge

Workplace Wellbeing Day 2017

Ireland’s third Annual Workplace Wellbeing Day takes place this year on 31 March. All areas are encouraged to mark the day in a way that’s suitable to you locally.

You’ll find plenty of tips and ideas on the National Workplace Wellbeing Day webpage. The initiative is organised by Food Drink Ireland and supported by IBEC.

Disability Rights Protest 30 March Dáil Éireann

SAVE THE DATE: Disability rights activist Joanne O'Riordan - along with over 100 disability organisations - is planning a public demonstration in Dublin on Thursday, March 30th to highlight the 10-year anniversary of Ireland's failure to ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). The demonstration will be taking place outside Dáil Éireann, Kildare Street, Dublin 2.

The HR Department has been rolling out a national Policy Awareness Programme since 2016. The next two policies for discussion in team meetings for February/March is the Data Protection Policy and the Health and Safety Statement.

Please find accompanying slides to aid with the discussion of these policies at your team meetings here.

Two new policies will be sent out for discussion in April/May 2017.
