Enable Ireland @ Bloom

The O'Donovan Brothers Visit the Enable Ireland Garden doe a Bord Bia Photocall
For five days a team from Enable Ireland met thousands of visitors from all over the public to talk to them about our No Limits show garden and the work that we do with children and adults with disabilities. We distributed 20,000 leaflets with information on Enable Ireland and how people can support us. Our Garden and Gift Store in Sandymount has a retail space at the show and generated over €3,000 in sales. Our post-Bloom plant sale also generated additional sales and increased footfall in our store will be monitored over the coming months.

Approximately 20 volunteers from services divisions spoke to thousands of visitors about the inspiration behind the garden, explaining who we are and what we do. Staff from fundraising division were in attendance over the 5 days providing support and used the opportunity to collect contact data from over 1,000 individuals for future use.

Our presence at the show gave us an incredible opportunity to create awareness for Enable Ireland and engage with the public. We had coverage in the Irish Times, The Independent, Examiner, Mail on Sunday, RTE, Ireland AM and a fantastic response to our video posts on social media with over 17,000 views.

Our garden won a Silver Medal and VIP visitors included patron of Enable Ireland President Michael D Higgins, Olympic rowers the O'Donovan brothers, RTE's Marty Morrison and lots of service users from all around the country! Special thanks to our generous sponsors Solus, Cleary & Doyle Construction, C.J. Falconer & Associates Architects and Caragh Nurseries.

Well done to Veronica Cregg and Hilary O'Neill who won a pair of tickets each in our internal ticket giveaway.

Their entries were:

Veronica Cregg: Enable Ireland is Blooming Brilliant because it sows the seeds to growth: independence, choice and inclusiveness
Hilary O'Neill: Enable Ireland is blooming brilliant because we plant seeds for independence and inclusion so children grow

Enable Ireland PC Donation to Camara

In 2015 and 2016, the IT Department carried out an extensive upgrade project across all Enable Ireland locations where the operating system on all PCs was upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7, Microsoft Office was upgraded to Office 2013, and old PCs and laptops were replaced.

Where possible, old PCs were recycled by Camara. Camara is a charity that uses technology to improve the lives of young people from disadvantaged communities around the world.
