Accessible Apps Games and Toys
by Sean Loughran

Well the man in the red suit is getting ready to pack his bags, so why not give him some ideas for accessible apps, toys and games? Here in the AT Training Service, we’ve been busy gathering up information on what’s available and we hope you might find it useful as Christmas comes closer. This guide might be helpful to mams and dads, but also to aunts and uncles, cousins and siblings in search of inspiration when it comes time to put something special beneath the Christmas tree. Why not check out our guide to Accessible Apps, Games and Toys here?

We all know there are many benefits of play for children.  As well as a source of enjoyment, it can build the childs imagination, promote social skills and advance their cognitive and physical development.  Some play will also have educational benefits.  Games and Toys can provide the means by which children can play either by themselves or within a group.

Enable Ireland's National Assistive Technology Service has gathered information together on a range of accessible toys.  It includes a variety of accessible games, apps and toys which may be of interest, particularly at times such as Christmas and birthdays, when presents are high on the list of priorities.
