Welcome to our latest Ezine, the theme of which is AT Users’ Personal Stories. Here you will read of the many exciting ways in which AT has impacted on people’s lives: whether through the use of smart phones for personal navigation, or eye gaze technologies for communication. I am very thankful to all of our contributors, who have so generously shared their personal stories with us in this issue. While each has a very particular story to tell, all share an enthusiasm for what technology has to offer them in terms of enhancing their independence. AT has come a long way in recent years, and mainstream technologies have become so much more accessible that in many cases, it is no longer necessary to source specialist solutions. Who knows where the next five years will bring us in technology terms? For now, our challenge is to continue to take advantage of new developments, wherever they occur: in mobile devices, learning support apps, way finding solutions and beyond. We hope you enjoy this compendium of success stories, and if you’d like to respond with one of your own, please do! We’ll gladly spread the word further!
